THE FIBERESIN SOLID CORE PHENOLIC (SCP) STORY(click to view details)

Fiberesin Solid Core Phenolic (SCP) is a thermally fused material comprised of multiple sheets of kraft fiber paper. These kraft papers can be virgin or 100% re-cycled and FSC (Forest Stewardship Counsel) certified. To produce SCP, Fiberesin impregnates the raw core kraft sheets with phenolic resins. The treated papers are then hot pressed, fusing the layers into a solid panel. SCP does not emit formaldehyde, is resistant to burning, and can support significant weight without breaking. Fiberesin SCP core is available in black, gray, or brown.

Fiberesin SCP can be made either with or without a decorative top sheet. The decorative sheets come in an endless variety of solid colors, patterns, wood grains, stones, or marbles and are alpha cellulose impregnated with melamine. Real wood veneers are available as well.

Fabrication options are unlimited. Fiberesin SCP can be shaped, cut, drilled, routed, tapped, or sanded. With its superior stability, the material holds inserts, brackets, fasteners, or specialty hardware with outstanding screw retention.

Fiberesin’s unique custom graphics capabilities makes it possible to fuse any artwork,photograph, original image, or logo directly into the panel surface making it virtually impervious to moisture, abrasion, and stains.

The number of kraft papers used determines the thickness of the panel. Fiberesin manufactures4’ x 8’ panels in thicknesses between ¼” to one inch. Because Fiberesin SCP is stiff and strong,thinner parts may be utilized, but for maximum flatness and balance it is recommended that the same paper and finish be specified on both panel sides.

Because of their high strength to weight ratio, Fiberesin SCP panels can be used in place of plywood or wood products. SCP panels maintain their dimensions and can be fabricated with standard wood working tools. The material can be attached with screws or adhesives and have low water absorption making them resistant to mold. SCP can be sanded on both sides to improve adhesion in composite applications.

Fiberesin SCP can be easily fabricated to be self-edging. Minimal sanding and polishing create san attractive edge that is visually and tactile pleasing. SCP is economical since no additional edge treatment is required.

Ideal for either horizontal or vertical surfaces, Fiberesin SCP is used for lab and office furniture, room/office dividers, x-ray tables, work surfaces, fixtures, ergonomic keyboard platforms, tablet arms, and any application requiring strength, rigidity, durability, and decorative appeal.
