The panel structure consists of layers of paper impregnated with thermosetting resins. The core is obtained from Kraft paper impregnated with phenolic resins, while the panel surface consists of decorative paper impregnated with melamine resin properly treated in order to ensure elevated resistance to chemical agents
Impregnated sheets are subject to the combined action of pressure (8 Mpa) and temperature (150 °C) for approximently 90 minutes; this result in an irreversible chemical-physical transformation through the polycondensation of the resins.

- High resistance to a wide range of chemical agents.
- Hygienic, atoxic, suitable for prolonged contact with foodstuffs, chemical inhert; its non porous water resistant surface is an effective barrier against microorganisms.
- Ecellent resistance to water and steam.
- Self supporting, double faced, highly resistant to impact and to extreme temperatures, Labolam fully satisfies all requirements for standard laboratory applications.
- Antistatic, does not attract dust. Suitable for use in electronics labs.
- Good radiological decontamination properties, low light reflection.
- Color fastness: excellent resistance to light.
- 6 Blue Wool Scale, EN 438/2
- 4 Grey Scale, ISO 105-A-02
Resistance to diluted strong bases and acids.
Easy to clean and disinfect, given its resistance to common lab cleaners.
- Acetone
- Toluene
- Ethylic and Methylic Alcohol
- Dimethylformamide -DMF-
- Dimethylsulproxide -DMSO-
- Tetrahydrofuran -THF-
- Terpentine
- Methyl chetone
- Ammonia
- Caustic Soda
- Potassium Hydroxide, up to 10%
- The substance lists in the following pages are a guideline to determine safe contact
times with most common agents. Certain highly oxidizing mineral acids and coloring
agents may cause loss of gloss or slight color fading of the surface, without significantly
degrading its function.
-
Labolam HPL is not affected by many chemicals substances; only the most corrosive may damage its surface, depending on: concentration; contact time; product temperature.
-
Labolam is resistant to very low and high temperatures, from -20 to +140°C (max 180°C for 20 min). When using heating devices in direct contact with the surface (i.e. Bunsen burner, heating plates, steam generators) protect surface with an insulating material.
-
Sharp tools. Despite the excellent resistance of the surface, improper use of sharp tools may damage it. It is therefore recommended to use a protective board when using blades and similar tools.
-
Surface can be cleaned with soapy water and common organic solvents (alcohol, benzine, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone perchloroethylene).
-
Do not use abrasive pads and powders which might cause damage.
-
Avoid use of detergents with high concentrations of strong acids or bases (i.e. formic, hydrochloric, sulfuric and nitric acid).
-
Use a cloth with glycerin or products based on neutral wax to revive color of panel edges.
-
Transport: being classified as non hazadous material, no special markings or precautions are necessary.
-
Storage: keep panels stacked on a flat, even surface. It is recommended to cut metal straps around pallet and lay a hipboard at least 18 mm thick on top of stack. Do not keep pallets stacked for prolonged periods; use a shelf for each single pallet. Improper storage may result in warping of panels.
-
Protective film must be removed from both faces during installation.
