CollaspeProduct Description(click to view details)

Wilsonart® Chemical-Resistant Laminate is produced for work tops and cabinet surfacing in intermediate-type laboratories where weight or cost constraints rule out slate, epoxy or stainless steel; the possibility of chemical spills rules out conventional highpressure decorative laminate; or where a trend-aware colored or patterned surface is desired. Wilsonart® is also recommended in areas where indiscriminate use of a variety of cleaning agents may be used.

Specific applications include laboratory cabinets, casework, counters and tabletops in hospitals, photographers' darkrooms, beauty salons and product testing facilities. Wilsonart® is ideal for nurses' stations, physicians' and dentists' examining and treatment rooms and pathologists' work rooms. It is also practical and attractive surfacing for wainscoting in any of these areas.

CollaspeProduct Compositon(click to view details)

A special resin formulation is applied over the decorative surface paper to achieve chemical resistance. The decorative paper is treated with melamine resin; and the core is composed of kraft papers impregnated with phenolic resin. These sheets are then bonded at pressures greater than 1000 pounds per square inch at temperatures approaching 300?F (149?C). Finished sheets are trimmed and the backs sanded to facilitate bonding.

CollaspeBasic Limitations(click to view details)

Wilsonart® Laminates are intended for interior surfacing only, and not as structural materials. They must be bonded to suitable substrates.

Do not subject these laminates to extremes in humidity or to temperatures over 275?F (135?C) for sustained periods of time.

You should not expose these laminates to flame, molten metal, metallic sparks or intense, direct sunlight. They should not be used as cutting surfaces.

Note: Wilsonart® Laminate should be protected from damage caused by high heat, such as heat created by Bunsen burners. The burners should be placed on a trivet to protect the laminate surface.

#60 Matte

A fine matte texture with a slight sheen offers scratch-resistance properties of 2.0 or 2.5 Newtons (measure of force). Recommended for horizontal and vertical applications. Glossometer reading: MD and CD 16 ± 2.

NOTE: Glossometer readings are made at a 60º angle of incidence. MD refers to the machine direction of a laminate sheet, and CD refers to the cross direction.

CollaspeCare & Cleaning Guide(click to view details)

Your decision to purchase Wilsonart Laminate will bring you years of quality performance.

Everyday cleaning of our products is as simple as a quick wipe with a damp sponge. All resist muddy fingerprints, coffee spills and so much more.

Be sure to read and follow the recommended care and cleaning procedures.

Routine Care

To clean the surface, use a damp cloth or sponge and a mild soap or detergent. Difficult stains such as coffee or tea can be removed using a mild household cleaner/detergent and a soft bristled brush, repeating as necessary. If a stain persists, use a paste of baking soda and water and apply with a soft bristled brush. Light scrubbing for 10 to 20 strokes should remove most stains. Although baking soda is a low abrasive, excessive scrubbing or exerting too much force could damage the decorative surface, especially if it has a gloss finish.

Stubborn stains that resist any of the above cleaning methods may require the use of undiluted household bleach or nail polish remover. Apply the bleach or nail polish remover to the stain and let stand no longer than two minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and wipe dry. This step may be repeated if the stain appears to be going away and the color of the laminate has not been affected.

WARNING: Prolonged exposure of the laminate surface to bleach will cause discoloration.

Hot pans and heat-producing appliances (such as electric skillets), when set directly upon countertops, can mar the product's beauty. Always use a heat shield, hot pad or trivet.

A Few Notes of Caution

  • Acidic or abrasive cleaners can damage laminate surfaces; do not use them.
  • Drain cleaners containing lye will permanently damage any Wilsonart Laminate surface. If you spill a drain cleaner, wipe it up immediately and rinse several times with water.
  • Hair, textile and food dyes can cause permanent stains. If dye should happen to spill, wipe it up immediately with dishwashing detergent or an all-purpose cleaner.
  • Never place pots or dishes directly from the oven or burner on an unprotected laminate surface; such extreme heat can cause cracking or blistering.
  • Do not work with oven cleaners on an unprotected countertop. Wipe spills away promptly and rinse several times with water.
  • Rust removers contain harsh chemicals which will quickly cause permanent damage. If a spill occurs, wipe off all residue immediately, wash thoroughly with soapy water and rinse several times.
  • Steel wool and other abrasive pads will damage Wilsonart Laminate. Don't use them for cleaning and don't store steel wool pads on your countertop; the metal can rust and leave stains.
  • Toilet bowl cleaners contain harsh chemicals that can cause permanent damage. If spills occur, wipe up immediately, wash surface with soapy water and rinse several times.
